h) Please describe any staff / people / community / environmentally friendly policies you have:

At present we do not charge service charge. In the future we might start the service charge, once we feel that our service is unexeptional good in order to charge such a fee from our guests. The reason why we want to do it is because our staff does not get sufficient tip money and it is hard to be fair (split the money among all of our staff who all contribute to a smooth service. By taking service charge not only the receptionist or room maid would get tip money but all (driver, gardener, cook, steward, accountant etc). We rely on tip money and all of this money plus recycling material goes to our staff 100%.
We are a very small (15 rooms) family-run beach resort. Most of our staff are like family, working with us for many years already (also other F&B businesses). They do not get a very huge salary, which we cannot afford during low season (but we keep ALL staff) and those you stay a whole year get a 13th salary or other bonuses according to their skills and abilities.
They all get health insurance, free staff food, 1 day off per week, and about 13-21 days paid holidays.
As mentioned above, we separate our garbage (quite limited, but progressive for this area) into paper, plastic bottles, cans, and rest garbage. All 'income' goes to our staff in order to motivate them to separate garbage.
We use little chlorine in our pool, mainly salt and we have waste water system, not to harm the grounds. We just had an underground tank made to collect rain water from our roof and we would maybe next season (if we have the liquidity) use solar cell water heaters which will be installed on the roof. Right now we are changing all our doors to PVC double glassed doors in order to prevent wastage of energy (air condition) and to keep the rooms quite and insect free.
Our business is not really making profit and we feel much like the founder of your website, but we did not give up yet.
Wish us good luck!

Best regards,

Chanida
