Pondok Sari Hotel Rating/Comments

It is difficult to rate this hotel using the numbers supplied as they do not enable one to reflect the differences between the attitudes of various members of the staff. The restaurant and bedroom staff were very good - friendly and courteous - the reception staff presented a bored and sullen attitude. The entertainment value for us was the pool, which was great, for others the diving would be a draw card. The food quality was not as good as we expected from what was reported. The breakfast Ok and adequate, but overall the quality of the fish and chicken we had was dry and overcooked. The welcome drink the best we have ever had in Bali. The location of the hotel was good and the gardens lovely - better than the 2 adjoining hotels. The overall quality was good and the ambience of the bedroom and dining room were charming and had a real Balinese feel. Considering the remoteness of the area, the facilities were good.

A small gem in North Bali for those who appreciate nature and peaceful holidays diving and hiking. This small hotel has prospered a lot in the last years. They added a beautiful spa (in a rebuilt ancient javanese house) and pool, built new bungalows and now are adding some ancient wooden two-storey houses. Everything is done with a lot of taste and care. Beautiful garden with lotos pond adjoining the pool. The service is charming and very efficient. Restaurant is ok. It is still a low-budget hotel, so don't expect a fancy cuisine. They have a Werner Lau dive base but just outside the hotel are two other dive operations, which are less expensive and with whom we dive for four years now to our entire satisfaction.

Not a great hotel to stay if you have children. If you are a couple this may differ however.
We found the food the worst we encountered in three weeks in Bali, in our view the cook needs to be replaced quickly.
Rooms were okay, but you needed the mosquito shelter and the outdoor bathroom facilities do not have one... Also a lot of construction going on, which nobody had mentioned to us.
Overall not impressed, we decided to leave early and than found out that the price quoted apparantly was a mistake... not our problem but theirs!
